WHITESBORO, TEX. – The 2021 LEVA Digital Multimedia Evidence Training Symposium will return as an in-person event Oct. 18-22, 2021 at the Embassy Suites in Franklin, Tenn. With more than 20 sessions, LEVA 2021 will provide coursework to help forensic video analysts deliver better results in every phase of the profession.
“As always, our goal is to create a week of meaningful training that attendees can put into practical use once they’re back to work,” said Jan Garvin, LEVA Executive Director. “We’ve managed to keep tuition rates the same since 2014 to make our programs accessible to more agencies. Besides training, LEVA will also offer the opportunity to network, which we weren’t able to do in person last year.”
This year’s schedule includes a variety of relevant topics for forensic video analysts. For example, there is a two-class focus on vehicle speed calculation. “Calculating Speeds of Vehicles: How Reliable Is Timing Metadata?” will provide an overview of how timing is stored within various video formats. “Calculating Timing and Distance from Video” will build on the previous session with hands-on instruction and best practices for accurately calculating timing and distance from video.
LEVA 2021 will also help forensic video analysts perform better in court. A session on courtroom technology trial preparation will discuss the pitfalls of using technology to present evidence to a jury. Plus, an eight-hour, hands-on workshop (limited to 20 pre-registered students) will cover methods for creating demonstrative court exhibits using Adobe Photoshop for still and video files.
This year’s event will not be streamed live. LEVA membership is not required to attend LEVA 2021, but classes can earn hours toward LEVA certification. The hotel reservation deadline is Sept. 16 at the current government rate for attendees. For schedule details and more information, visit leva.org.
